When I first started diving in the early 70's, the cameras and housings were far to expensive for a poor boy like me, so I never gave it a shot. (Get it, a shot?). With the introduction of digital cameras and affordable housings I got hooked! This course is geared for those affordable cameras and housings. I use Canon G-Series cameras in Canon housings. I teach PADI's Digital Underwater Photography Course. In class we cover the material needed to gain the PADI certification. But wait! There's more! Much more... |
Diving up here in the PNW presents some challenges not encountered in warmer and clearer waters. We'll look and address those peculiarities. In the 2-3 hour classroom session we'll delve into settings, composition, lighting, the dreaded backscatter, etc. (Lotsa etc.).
Classroom session is followed by 2 open water dives to practice what was preached. Then a review session is scheduled to look at and critique the pictures. The class is taught through Seven Seas Scuba and is priced at $150.00. Students are responsible for dive gear, transportation and camera. Cameras are available for rent.

In addition to courses in the waters of the Pacific Northwest, we also offer classes in the Caribbean! In conjunction with Mickey Charteris, author of the popular Caribbean Reef Life field guide, we have developed a course titled, "Cold Water Conversion": how to take the skills you know in colder waters and apply them to the warm clear waters of the Caribbean.
Take the gloves off and dive into near-perfect visibility! This multi day course covers all aspects of digital underwater photography in clear, warm waters. It is taught at the established West End Divers, on the island of Roatan in the Western Caribbean, one of the greatest locations for warm water biodiversity in the world.
